Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc's Power Transmission & Distribution arm is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support delivery of major infrastructure projects in the UK. Based at our Assington, Suffolk project office, you will manage commercial and contractual aspects to maximise value.

The role requires experience on large infrastructure projects, NEC contracts knowledge, subcontractor management, and mentoring junior QS staff.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering infrastructure, utilities, power, energy, civil engineering or construction projects.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts.
• Experience managing subcontractors, procurement and commercial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial performance of major infrastructure projects from inception through to final account.
• Preparing, reviewing and negotiating subcontract agreements and commercial terms.
• Managing compensation events, variations, claims and contractual entitlements.
• Producing accurate cost forecasts, CVRs, and financial reports.
• Supporting procurement activities and supply chain management.
• Monitoring subcontractor performance and valuations.
• Identifying, managing and mitigating commercial risks and opportunities.
• Providing commercial support to project delivery teams and senior stakeholders.
• Analysing rates, prices and cost data to maximise project value.
• Supporting the preparation and negotiation of claims where required.
• Mentoring and developing Assistant and Quantity Surveyors within the commercial team.
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of commercial processes and best practice.
