Senior Quantity Surveyor

Salary: £55,000 – £65,000

Location: Glasgow

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Overview

Alpinefox Recruitment is supporting a leading civil engineering contractor in their search for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working on complex, high-value civil engineering projects, and wants to be part of a progressive, collaborative team.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Preparing, negotiating and analysing budgets and cost plans.
  • Ensuring all subcontractors are fully pre-qualified and compliant.
  • Procuring subcontractors and preparing relevant order documentation.
  • Assessing and certifying subcontractor interim payments, including issuing Payer / Pay-Less notices.
  • Providing advice on contractual and legal matters, identifying and mitigating commercial risks.
  • Producing and presenting monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
  • Building, maintaining and strengthening relationships across project and commercial teams.
  • Allocating, overseeing and evaluating work carried out by yourself and others.
  • Supporting the wider commercial team and mentoring Quantity Surveyors.
  • Ensuring effective communication between commercial and operational site teams.
  • Attending site regularly as required.
What We’re Looking For
  • Degree-qualified Quantity Surveyor (or equivalent).
  • Strong civil engineering project experience.
  • Excellent working knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
  • High-level commercial awareness and contract understanding.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Highly organised, able to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent numerical, IT and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willing to travel to sites across the region
