Major Construction Projects | Edinburgh

A leading main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of large-scale, high-value construction projects across Edinburgh.

This is a real opportunity for a commercially driven Senior Quantity Surveyor who enjoys being on site, leading packages, and taking real ownership of project commercial performance from start to finish.

The Role

Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for the full commercial management of major projects, typically from pre-construction through to final account.

Key duties will include :
  • Full commercial responsibility for major construction projects
  • Managing cost plans, budgets, forecasts and CVRs
  • Procurement and commercial management of key subcontract packages
  • Valuations, variations, change control and final accounts
  • Managing subcontractor relationships and commercial risk
  • Producing accurate monthly commercial reports
  • Working closely with site and project teams to drive performance
  • Supporting and mentoring Assistant and Intermediate QS staff
Candidate Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or experienced Project QS with a main contractor
  • Track record delivering large or complex construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of JCT and / or NEC contracts
  • Confident managing subcontractors and negotiating commercial outcomes
  • Ability to operate autonomously on live construction projects between £20M & £50M
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
  • MRICS or progression towards chartership is advantageous, but not essential
