Senior Project Manager- Vessel Replacement Programme


Competitive Salary plus company car, bonus and private medical cover


37.5 hours per week - Monday - Friday

Serco Maritime Service have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our Contract Delivery team. This role will be responsible for the end-to-end management of a Vessel Replacement Programme (VRP). These responsibilities include, but are not limited to managing the delivery of the programmes scope, Managing the programmes deliverables, Risk management, Evaluation of New Information, Programme reporting, Stakeholder management and the Closure of the Programme.


Main Accountabilities :


  • Lead the successful delivery of the Vessel Replacement Programme through effective stakeholder management,

  • recognised project management tools and effective stakeholder management.

  • Deliver the project in line with the agreed schedule, budget and quality.

  • Apply agreed methodologies to monitor and track progress and benefits against work stream objectives and the overall project.

  • Lead the management of risk for the project in alignment with the Project Management Plan.

  • Manage the delivery of internal and external project reporting.

  • Escalate issues to the Head of Contract Delivery in line with the agreed Governance.

  • Track lessons learned and promoting best practices.

  • Coaching and supporting more junior members of the team to help build experience and capability in project management.

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement.


What you'll need to do the role :


  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent relevant experience)

  • Experience working within the Defence industry, or a working for a company who supply to the Ministry of Defence.

  • Experience in Maritime, particularly boat building would be preferable

  • Project / Programme Management certification and experience (e.g. APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ), Prince2

  • MS Office Skills, including Project, Teams, SharePoint, Word, Visio, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Demonstrable leadership and management skills.

  • Demonstrable financial and commercial management skills.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentational communication skills

  • Experience of exceptional collaboration, influencing, communication and engagement of a wide range of internal stakeholders including senior executive leaders, as well as external stakeholders.

  • Experience of working in a high-pressure environment and managing multiple demands at once.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Working within a matrix organisation, you will be able to forge good working relationships quickly and collaborate as part of a varied team

  • SC Security Cleared or ability to obtain the required clearance

  • Willingness to travel as necessary to deliver programme outcomes
