Help us create a better future, quicker
We're looking for an experienced leader to play a key role in supporting the Head of the Business Centre of Excellence in delivering a high value Capital Investment Programme. This pivotal position ensures that major initiatives are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality, while shaping the overall process that defines the programme itself. The role also provides guidance on selecting the most effective IT solutions and ensures that every investment brings genuine value and satisfaction to the business.
You will take ownership of the full application lifecycle across a range of business functions, overseeing delivery through to operational handover. This includes guiding project managers in consistent, mature project management practices, supporting their development through coaching and mentoring, and strengthening the organisation's overall capability. You will manage resource planning across complex programmes, ensuring the right skills are deployed at the right time, including coordinating third party Scrum Masters for Agile projects. A strong relationship with local & global cybersecurity teams is essential to ensure every deployment meets required security standards and effectively mitigates risk.
Financial insight is a key part of the role, with responsibility for producing accurate projections that support the financial management of project activities. You will contribute to a strong reporting framework, giving visibility across all Capital Programmes, highlighting risks, issues and dependencies, and engaging with IT Risk & Compliance when required. When challenges arise, you will lead an established escalation model to drive timely decisions and protect delivery timelines. Throughout all activity, you will maintain a clear, strategic view of programme status, ensuring effective supplier management and alignment with business expectations.
To succeed in this role, you will bring proven experience in senior project delivery or PMO leadership within complex environments, with expertise in recognised methodologies and project controls. You will be adept at planning, business reporting, budget management and monitoring progress against critical milestones. Strong skills in risk, issue and dependency management are essential, along with the ability to navigate internal and external relationships where priorities may differ. You will be comfortable managing ambiguity and using incomplete information to support sound decision making. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are key, as is experience working with senior stakeholders and external vendors on large scale, innovative technology solutions. Professional certification such as Prince2 or an equivalent qualification is required, alongside a solid understanding of resource and budget allocation processes.
This role also plays an important part in shaping the future of the investment portfolio by managing the demand process. You will continuously assess business needs, ensure IT application strategy aligns to these evolving requirements and help generate high value proposals that support long term goals. By maintaining a clear pipeline of viable ideas and supporting the enhancement of application value delivery, you will help the organisation make informed, impactful investment decisions. Through active involvement in planning forums and approval processes, you will offer valuable advisory input, strengthen project definitions, remove barriers to progress and ensure that each initiative is supported by the most suitable IT solution.
As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits. With our pension scheme, we'll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.
