A leading engineering firm in the UK is seeking a Principal/Associate Geotechnical Engineer to lead geotechnical studies and support team growth. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and extensive experience in infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have excellent technical writing and leadership skills. The position offers flexible working arrangements and a competitive benefits package.
Are you considering a new challenge in the geotechnical field? Are you looking for an engineering firm where you can carry out responsible, sustainable projects, and where teams collaborate with each other while fostering each other's professional development? Stantec, with 31,000 experts working in 450 offices worldwide, is the company you'll want to work for.
We are currently seeking a Principal/Associate Geotechnical Engineer to join us ideally in Edinburgh (although other office locations will be considered for the right candidate). We can offer the flexibility of a balance between home and office work, which will help maintain a good work-life blend and effective teamwork.
As a geotechnical leader in our Ground Engineering Group, your main tasks will be to support team growth, provide project leadership, participate in geotechnical investigation campaigns, design structures, and act as a technical reviewer. With your accomplishments and recognised expertise, you will make decisions and technical recommendations when supporting the delivery of our UK programmes, primarily in the energy sector but with opportunities to support our work in land development and infrastructure development.
This role also involves leading and directing large-scale geotechnical studies, including identifying and mitigating inherent risks. The successful candidate will be expected to manage complex technical situations and contribute to the advancement of the field by advising on and developing new methods, practices, and tools. Furthermore, the position requires active participation in staff leadership, coaching, and development, as well as leading and/or contributing to service proposals. Furthering the development of the geotechnical engineering discipline within Stantec across the UK and Ireland will also be expected.
We can offer you many benefits, including a competitive benefits package, a strong culture of learning and development, and a great work environment. As we look to further diversify and grow our wider Stantec UK business, you will potentially be presented with opportunities across our diversified business lines to further your career.
You will hold a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geological engineering, geology, or a related field, with a preference for a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Geotechnical Engineering. Candidates must possess extensive relevant experience, including substantial involvement in infrastructure projects. Chartered membership with a relevant organization, such as the ICE or Geological Society, is preferred, or the candidate should be actively working towards chartership. Excellent technical writing skills are essential for producing interpretative reports and proven experience in the design and analysis of geotechnical structures is also required, along with demonstrated leadership abilities in managing teams.
Most importantly, you will have a passion for delivering quality geotechnical solutions to our clients, which will be critical to your success.
