Job description
Job Summary

This post is part of the Perinatal Psychological Therapies leadership team responsible for overseeing the Psychology provision in their patch. The Clinical Psychology team across the service comprises one band 8b Clinical Psychologist, band 8a Practitioner Psychologists, band 7 Practitioner Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists, Trainee Clinical Psychologists and Honorary Placement Students. The post holder will actively contribute to planning, development and evaluation of perinatal mental health services using advanced clinical leadership skills and knowledge to provide training and consultancy in clinical psychology within the specialty area of perinatal mental health. They will assess and treat service users in Camden and Islington. 20 % of their workload is expected to be management & leadership and 80 % will be clinical interventions. They are expected to hold a highly complex caseload.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical assessment, formulation, and CBT‑informed psychological treatment and management plans for clients with varying levels of severity and complexity.
  • Offer psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals to aid formulation, diagnosis and treatment of perinatal clients.
  • Lead delivery and evaluation of psychological interventions within the service.
  • Supervise clinical and counselling psychologists, trainee clinical and counselling psychologists, assistant psychologists, and other staff providing low‑intensity interventions.
  • Liaise with health and social care staff across agencies and participate actively in teaching, training and supervision.
  • Engage in management, policy and service development, research, audit and service evaluation.
  • Maintain current professional development and active engagement with developments in psychological practice.
Person Specification
Education / Qualifications (Essential)
  • HCPC registration as a practitioner psychologist, or qualification from a High Intensity IAPT course (Post‑qualification Diploma), or a postgraduate diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or other psychological therapy modality with accreditation by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a clinical or counselling psychologist (where applicable) and BABCP registration.
Experience (Essential)
  • Perinatal or child & family work.
  • MDT working.
  • Experience working with PTSD, c‑PTSD or Perinatal OCD.
Skills (Essential)
  • Proficiency in a range of psychological assessment methods (including psychometric tests), intervention and management techniques for a breadth of problems of severity and complexity presented in adult mental health services.
Desirable
  • Trauma therapy training such as TF‑CBT, NET, CFT, EMDR.
  • Parent‑Infant therapy training such as CoS or VIG.
