Senior Pensions Associate

Salary from £54,088 (Sheffield) or £60,059 (London), 10% annual bonus potential, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays rising with service and a company pension scheme with highly competitive contribution rates

Permanent, Full time

You can be based at either Royal Mail Farringdon (EC1A 1AA) or Sheffield Pond Street (S98 6HR). This role requires occasional office attendance, typically 1‑2 times per month, in line with business needs.

Royal Mail has launched an industry‑first pension plan, the Collective Plan, featuring a groundbreaking Collective Defined Contribution element. This innovative approach, introduced in October 2024, is leading change in the pensions industry.

The Collective Plan is overseen by the Trustee Board, supported by our Executive Team, who ensure everything runs smoothly day‑to‑day. We’re looking for a Senior Pensions Associate to join this Executive team.

This is your chance to play a key role in an exciting, forward‑thinking initiative that’s setting new standards in the pensions industry. If you are an excellent communicator with significant pensions experience in a trustee services background, we would love to hear from you.

About the Role

As a member of the Executive team you will have involvement in the three standing Committees; Member Experience, Funding and Investment and Governance, Audit and Risk. We are particularly keen to hear from individuals interested in member communication development who are passionate about member experience.

  • Assist the team with all aspects of governance and scheme management
  • Maintain accurate records and minutes for Board and Committee meetings
  • Draft and update governance documents (policies, business plans, meeting papers)
  • Manage the Risk Register and support compliance processes (annual/triennial valuations)
  • Draft, design and send member communications and campaigns
  • Organisation and management of nationwide in‑person pension workshops
  • Gather feedback (including from members) and analyse feedback to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Coordinate Trustee training and procurement activities
  • Contribute to the annual report, accounts, and regulatory filings
  • Over time, take responsibility for managing Committees
  • Support the Executive team and Trustee with any ad‑hoc matters that may arise from time to time
About You
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication with strong attention to detail
  • Experience drafting minutes, meeting papers, and policies
  • Strong influencing and relationship‑building skills
  • Previous DB/DC/Master Trust pensions experience
  • Broad understanding of Trustee Board servicing (administration, actuarial, investment, governance)
  • Pensions technical knowledge, including legislation and regulatory interpretation
  • Experience supporting Trustee Committees
  • Interest to learn and develop new skills
  • Degree or equivalent experience; APMI preferred but not essential
