Senior Penetration Tester - UK remote - £70,000 - £90,000

Opus are working with a leading financial services institution that are expanding its internal Penetration Testing function and is seeking an experienced Senior Penetration Tester. This is an opportunity to join a growing, highly skilled team responsible for delivering high impact security testing across complex, regulated environments.

You’ll be responsible for planning and executing penetration tests across infrastructure, applications, cloud environments, and internal systems, with a strong emphasis on financial‑grade security controls. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in technically challenging environments and wants to contribute to the continuous improvement of a mature security programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high‑quality penetration tests across infrastructure, web applications, APIs, cloud platforms, and internal systems
  • Lead and scope complex testing engagements, ensuring alignment with regulatory and internal security requirements
  • Provide clear, actionable reporting and remediation guidance to technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Support threat‑led testing initiatives and contribute to red team or purple team exercises where required
  • Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and security teams to improve defensive controls and detection capabilities
  • Mentor junior testers and contribute to the development of internal methodologies, tooling, and best practices
  • Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and offensive security techniques relevant to financial services
Required Experience
  • 5+ years of penetration testing experience, with significant exposure to financial services environments
  • Strong technical expertise across infrastructure, application, and cloud penetration testing
  • Experience working within regulated environments and familiarity with frameworks such as PCI DSS, ISO 27001, NIST, or CBEST/TIBER
  • Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly and confidently to senior stakeholders
  • Hands‑on experience with common offensive security tools, custom tooling, and manual testing techniques
  • Relevant certifications such as CCT INF, CRT, OSCP, OSCE, CRTO, or equivalent (highly desirable)
