Qualifications

  • Proven experience in mechanical design engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in sheet metal design and BOM management.
  • Electrical engineering knowledge with hands‑on experience in wiring loom and harness design.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (CREO experience advantageous, but not essential).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work on‑site full‑time in the West Midlands.
  • Experience of mentoring others.

A global manufacturer based in the West Midlands is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. This is a full‑time, on‑site position where you'll take ownership of mechanical design projects, contribute electrical knowledge, and play a key role in developing future engineering leaders.

Responsibilities
  • Designing and developing sheet metal components for manufacturing applications.
  • Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support production workflows.
  • Producing detailed CAD models and technical drawings (CREO preferred, but open to other CAD software).
  • Designing wiring looms and harnesses to integrate electrical systems into mechanical designs.
  • Collaborating with production and quality teams to ensure designs meet performance and compliance standards.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes.

  • Proven experience in mechanical design engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in sheet metal design and BOM management.
  • Electrical engineering knowledge with hands‑on experience in wiring loom and harness design.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (CREO experience advantageous, but not essential).
