Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical building services design, preferably in commercial offices.

  • Consultancy design background with HNC or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Excellent client–facing, organisational and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design projects from concept to completion.
  • Produce calculations, specifications, drawings and tender documentation.
  • Conduct site visits, surveys and inspections.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and review contractor designs.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services

Location: London (Hybrid Working)

Salary: GBP45,000 – GBP65,000+ (DOE)

A well–established employee–owned Building Services Consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their London team. The consultancy has a long–standing reputation for delivering sustainable, technically excellent solutions across commercial, mixed–use, retail and industrial projects.

The Role

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will lead mechanical design projects from concept to completion, taking ownership while working closely with clients, architects and project teams. Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing calculations, specifications, drawings and tender documentation
  • Leading projects and representing the consultancy in client and design team meetings
  • Conducting site visits, surveys and inspections
  • Coordinating with other disciplines and reviewing contractor designs and value engineering proposals
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers
About You
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical building services design, preferably in commercial offices
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Hevacomp, Bluebeam and Navisworks
  • Consultancy design background with HNC or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Excellent client–facing, organisational and project management skills
  • Desirable: Revit MEP, EDSL TAS, CIBSE/IMechE membership
