Job summary
Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial function on the A66 Penrith to Scotch Corner scheme. Based in Warrington or Penrith with hybrid working (3 days in office), you will drive cost control, risk management and performance from pre-contract through final account, and support adjacent schemes where needed.
The role requires a degree in Quantity Surveying, and active professional membership (RICS/ICE/CIOB or working towards).
Qualifications
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
- RICS/ICES or CIOB (or working towards).
- CSCS (Professionally Qualified Person).
- Strong commercial management and cost reporting capability.
- Experience delivering CVR on projects up to £100m.
- Currently operating at Managing QS or Senior QS level.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Highways experience desirable.
Responsibilities
- Lead commercial delivery, ensuring robust governance and driving LEAN/digital practices.
- Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risk.
- Manage subcontractors and supply chain performance.
- Oversee cost planning, forecasting and CVR reporting.
- Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
- Lead procurement and negotiation of complex subcontract packages.
- Support team development and recruitment.
