Job summary

Balfour Beatty Living Places is seeking a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor to support highways maintenance and infrastructure projects across the UK. You will work with operations, clients and supply chain to manage costs, value engineering and commercial reporting.

The role requires a degree in Quantity Surveying with experience in highways or local authority contracts, NECC framework or term maintenance contracts, and strong cost management skills.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
• Experience as a QS in highways/civil infrastructure or local authority contracts.
• Experience managing commercial activities on term maintenance contracts or NEC contracts.
• Strong cost management, valuations, forecasting and CVR knowledge.
• Experience administering subcontractor accounts and procurement activities.
• Ability to prepare payments, valuations and commercial reporting.
• Familiarity with NEC contracts and practical application.
• Strong stakeholder management with clients and supply chain.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor project costs and commercial performance.
• Value works and prepare valuations, payments and invoices.
• Produce BOQs and schedules of rates.
• Build estimates from drawings and specs.
• Support procurement and manage subcontractor packages.
• Produce CVRs and cost reconciliation reports.
• Review programmes and plan commercial activities.
• Collaborate with operational teams to manage risk and opportunities.
• Mentor junior team members.
