Competitive starting salary range from £46,115 up to £52,464 per annum (dependent upon experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered

This position is based in Coventry University Corporate Services, a sister company of Coventry University

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Financial Planning and Control, this role will oversee and manage the core financial cycle of the business. The main focus of the role will be on transformational change and continuous improvement in processes, systems and controls, to support the delivery of the group financial records, plans and reporting.

The main duties of the role will include:

  • Lead the full financial cycle to meet Group planning, management, and reporting needs.
  • Oversee year-end close and support production of annual financial statements and audit.
  • Manage delivery of management accounts and forecasts, ensuring accuracy and insightful commentary.
  • Develop innovative financial models, tools, and systems to enhance Finance operations.
  • Lead a team to produce timely, high-quality financial reports and management information.
  • Maintain and control the Group’s chart of accounts and coding structures for data integrity.
  • Strengthen financial controls and streamline processes to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Oversee inter-company processes, controls, and consolidation for effective Group reporting.
  • Manage central posting of inter-company funding, income, and overhead redistributions.
  • Drive improvements in reporting through enhanced finance system data capabilities.
  • Promote Finance visibility via well-maintained website and intranet content.
Our Successful Candidate

You will be qualified with a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.

You will have experience in accounting and a good working knowledge of both management accounting and financial accounting. You will have experience in cost management and capital development, along with project accounting experience in relation to funded, non-funded and commercial project. Experience of working in accounting in a higher education sector would be advantageous.

You will have strong stakeholder management skills at all levels both internally and externally. You will also have experience of delivering a business information provision at a senior management level.

You will have the ability to work on your own initiative in a proactive manner and have the ability to work with minimum supervision with the ability to prioritise and make decisions based on clear criteria.
