Qualifications

• Experience in a maintenance role within a production/manufacturing environment.
• Experience with production machinery in a shift-based or 24/7 operation.
• Mechanically skilled with components such as bearings and belts.
• Experience using general workshop machinery and equipment.
• Welding and fabrication skills are desirable.
• Strong communication and team collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support maintenance of production machinery and ancillary equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and perform repairs.
• Strip down machinery to replace worn components.
• Record and update maintenance tasks in CMMS software.
• Support visiting service engineers and external contractors.
• Maintain facilities across all sites.
• Identify improvement opportunities and cost-saving ideas.
• Assist other areas with maintenance support as required.

Senior Maintenance Engineer

A well-established manufacturing business based in the Mildenhall area is seeking a Senior Maintenance Engineer to join its Maintenance & Facilities team. This is a key, hands-on role supporting machinery, equipment, and facilities across three local sites.

This opportunity would suit an experienced engineer who enjoys fault-finding, continuous improvement, and working in a fast-paced production environment.

The Role

As Senior Maintenance Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and performance of production machinery and site facilities. Full support and guidance will be provided to help the successful candidate develop further within the business.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the maintenance of production machinery and ancillary equipment
• Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out repairs
• Stripping down machinery to replace worn or broken components
• Completing and updating maintenance tasks using a CMMS / maintenance software
• Supporting visiting service engineers
• Maintaining facilities across all sites
• Acting as the main point of contact for external contractors
• Identifying improvement opportunities and potential cost-saving initiatives
• Assisting other areas of the business with maintenance support as required

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Experience in a maintenance role within a production or manufacturing environment
• Experience working with production machinery, ideally within a shift-based or 24/7 operation
• Good mechanical aptitude, including strip-down and replacement of components such as bearings, conveyor belts, and other wear parts
• Experience using general workshop machinery and equipment
• Welding and fabrication skills
• A disciplined, self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication skills, comfortable liaising with colleagues at all levels and external contractors
