Job summary

PPM Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join an established and growing engineering/manufacturing business in the United Kingdom.

You will be hands-on, maintaining, fault-finding and repairing production machinery, with a strong mechanical maintenance background and good electrical knowledge. The role involves reading drawings, using testing equipment and contributing to continuous improvement projects.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification preferred (NVQ/City & Guilds/HNC/HND or equivalent).
• Electrical qualifications such as 18th Edition or relevant experience would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults on production machinery.
• Carrying out electrical fault-finding and basic electrical repairs.
• Working with motors, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, bearings and mechanical systems.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Using electrical and mechanical testing equipment.
• Identifying potential equipment failures and taking preventative action.
• Supporting installation, modification and commissioning of machinery.
• Working closely with production teams to minimise machinery downtime.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records and reporting faults and repairs.
• Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety procedures.
• Supporting continuous improvement and reliability projects.
