Job summary

Ruth Wagstaff Recruitment seeks a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a production facility in North Nottinghamshire. You will maintain equipment, carry out planned and reactive maintenance, and work with the site team to minimise downtime and boost reliability.

The role requires hands-on fault finding and strong mechanical skills gained in a manufacturing setting, with an apprenticeship or Level 3 engineering qualification preferred.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical maintenance skills gained within a manufacturing or production environment.
• Hands-on approach with fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with production machinery and automated equipment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on support across the production lines.
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance and reactive repairs on plant and machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and identify effective solutions to minimise production downtime.
• Maintain accurate engineering and maintenance records.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with company procedures.
• Support continuous improvement, reliability and cost-saving initiatives.
• Work closely with production colleagues to ensure equipment performance and availability.

The Role:

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for keeping production equipment and plant operating safely and efficiently. Working as part of the site engineering team, you will carry out both planned and reactive maintenance, helping to minimise downtime and improve equipment reliability.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide hands‑on support across the production lines

• Experience of automated production systems would be advantageous
• A hands‑on approach with good fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
