Job summary

Oldham Council is seeking a Senior Licensing Technical Support Officer to join the Public Protection (Licensing) team in Oldham. The role focuses on technical support across licensing functions, ensuring applications are thoroughly checked and processed in line with legislation and policies.

As a senior member, you will guide junior staff, manage workloads, and assist with delivering a high-quality regulatory service to residents, licence holders, and partner agencies.

Qualifications

• Professional Licensing Practitioners Qualification and sufficient literacy and numeracy skills to undertake the duties of the role.
• Experience of working in a busy administrative environment and delivering excellent customer service to members of the public and partner organisations.
• Knowledge of licensing regulations, applications and processes, with the ability to manage competing priorities, communicate effectively and work accurately under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support across a broad range of licensing functions, ensuring applications are processed in accordance with legislation and council policies.
• Receive, scrutinise and process licensing applications, carrying out detailed checks on supporting documentation and records.
• Provide tailored advice and guidance to applicants and customers by telephone, email, letter and face to face.
• Support and guide Technical Support Officers, helping to manage workloads and maintain service standards.
• Deputise for the Licensing Technical Support Lead and help ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the service.
