We're looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a high-impact public sector programme, delivering scalable, secure digital services used at national scale.

This is a hands-on engineering role suited to contractors who enjoy building modern Back End services, working closely with product, delivery, and clinical/operational stakeholders in a fast-moving environment.

What you'll be doing

• Designing and building Node.js/JavaScript services in a cloud-native environment
• Developing scalable, resilient APIs and Back End systems on AWS
• Working with modern engineering practices: CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure as code
• Collaborating with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver user-centred solutions
• Contributing to technical decisions, code reviews, and engineering standards
• Supporting live services with a focus on performance, reliability, and security

What we're looking for

• Strong commercial experience with Node.js/JavaScript (or TypeScript)
• Solid experience building and operating services on AWS
• Background in public sector, healthcare, or other regulated environments (desirable, not essential)
