Job summary

AtkinsRéalis UK Limited is seeking a senior ITS/ Technology Design lead to oversee design schemes, coordinate internal teams and external consultants. The role emphasizes delivering on time and on budget, adhering to CPS standards and CDM duties, with strong stakeholder liaison.

You will develop briefs with the design team, review supplier documentation, and drive continual improvement across projects within the National Highways framework, including optioning and life cycle considerations.

Qualifications

• Relevant vocational qualifications (BEng/BSc/HNC/HND desirable).
• Membership of a professional institution (IET or IHE).
• Working towards IEng or CEng level.
• Competent in ITS/ Technology Design and Assessment.
• Knowledge of CDM and other H&S legislation.
• Designer’s duties and Principal Designer duties under CDM.
• Excellent IT Skills and Microsoft Office is essential.
• Knowledge of design and assessment standards (DMRB/MCHW/IEC/18th Edition IET Requirements) relevant to ITS/ Technology.
• Working knowledge of ITS/ Technology equipment (CCTV, signals, VMS, ERT, MIDAS).
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of communications networks and cyber security.
• Experience of highway design lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead ITS/ Technology design schemes and manage external consultants.
• Ensure designs meet CPS standards and are compliant for submission to National Highways.
• Manage design delivery, review documentation, and report progress to Client.
• Support internal Design Team with improvement schemes and in-house capability.
• Liaise with statutory bodies and stakeholders as required.
• Deputise for line manager and ensure CDM duties are met.
