Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Traffic Control Systems Engineer in Bristol to lead world-class traffic signal and ITS projects across the UK. You will guide design, deliver feasibility to detailed design, and manage client relations to ensure quality outcomes.

The role emphasizes mentoring junior staff, producing high-quality reports, and maintaining safety and project governance across multiple schemes.

Qualifications

In-depth knowledge of traffic signals design and highways design.
Experience leading feasibility, preliminary and detailed design activities.
Ability to develop construction packages for client tenders.
Strong problem-solving and innovative solution skills.
Proven ability to learn new skills and manage complex projects.
Excellent communication for client meetings and presentations.
Experience leading small project teams and managing health and safety (CDM).

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise delivery of traffic signal and ITS schemes from inception to operation.
Engage with clients to provide technical advice and progress project delivery.
Guide and develop less experienced staff on technical delivery and project management.
Deliver and review high-quality technical reports and presentations.
Demonstrate commercial awareness with cost estimates and scopes.
Direct and manage projects, monitor budgets, identify risks and resolve issues.
Work both in teams and independently to ensure delivery on time, budget, and quality.
