The University of Sheffield AMRC IT Team is seeking a Senior IT Technician - Projects on a fixed-term, full-time basis. You will provide specialist day-to-day IT support across projects and facilities, coordinating with the wider IT team to manage PCs, printers, laptops, networks, data storage, servers and AV equipment.

From Windows/macOS/iOS/Android support to information security and policy compliance, you will help deliver high-quality IT services, write SOPs, and enable project success.

Qualifications

• Have a good honours degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience providing effective and efficient IT Support.
• Ability to manage own workload with regards to major projects.
• Experience working within a highly regulated environment, and working with technical and procedure based controls.
• Experience of managing a large fleet of endpoints, packaging applications for silent deployment using an asset lifecycle management system e.g. Dell/Quest KACE, Microsoft SCCM, Sysprep
• Extensive experience supporting Microsoft Windows 11, Mac, Android, iOS and other OS’s for client deployment, imaging, fault finding and fault resolution.
• Must be able to work in the UK without restrictions in accordance with UK National Law and be prepared to undertakе UK National Security Vetting according to UK Government criteria
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to develop creative and elegant approaches to technical problem solving with longer-term implications.
• Ability to travel adhoc to AMRC sites for team meetings and training.

Responsabilités

• Act as lead IT technician for assigned projects, coordinating additional IT team resources as appropriate.
• Provide advice and guidance on a range of technical issues across the project's activities.
• Deliver a comprehensive, high quality IT Support service to project staff and external stakeholders.
• Be a point of escalation for all IT matters within your projects.
• Write and maintain standard operating procedures for project IT activities.
• Install, configure and support IT and AV hardware and software on projects.
• Lead the development and implementation of significant technical infrastructure supporting IT strategy.
