Job summary

The University of Sheffield AMRC IT Team seeks a Senior IT Technician - Projects on a fixed-term, full-time basis (35 hours/week). Embedded within AMRC, you’ll support projects and facilities, managing IT needs from PCs to AV hardware while coordinating with the wider IT group to ensure high-quality service.

You will implement improvements to project IT systems, develop SOPs, and maintain security reporting in collaboration with IT Management.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience providing effective IT support across projects and facilities.
• Ability to manage workload on major projects.
• Experience in highly regulated environments with controls and procedures.
• Experience managing a large fleet of endpoints and silent deployment packaging.
• Proficiency with Windows 11, macOS, Android and iOS deployments.
• UK right to work and willing to obtain DV clearance as required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with staff at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead IT technician for assigned projects and coordinate IT resources.
• Provide guidance on technical issues across project activities.
• Deliver high-quality IT support to staff, stakeholders and facilities.
• Be escalation point for IT matters within projects.
• Write and maintain SOPs for project IT activities.
• Collaborate with information security to ensure policy adherence.
• Install, configure and support IT and AV hardware/software for projects.
• Lead development of significant IT infrastructure supporting the IT strategy.
