Job summary

The University of Sheffield AMRC is seeking a highly technical IT/AV Technician to join the IT support team. You will provide second-line IT and AV support to a diverse user base across multiple sites, with remote assistance and occasional travel across the UK.

You will specify and procure IT hardware, software and services, maintain devices securely, and contribute to AV and conferencing setups for internal and external events. A full driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering 1st/2nd line IT support in a busy environment.
• Knowledge of Windows, MacOS, Android, iOS and Linux for deployment and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace apps and services.
• Experience with AV conferencing technologies and high-profile events.
• Understanding of cyber security basics and patch management.

Responsibilities

• Handle IT and AV queries via helpdesk, phone, email and in person.
• Prioritise workload to minimise business impact and downtime.
• Escalate complex issues to specialists when needed.
• Procure IT hardware, software and services for the team.
• Support the security and maintenance of Windows and Linux estates.
