Job summary
Jacobs is seeking a Principal Cable System Engineer to lead design delivery for Cable System Projects up to 400kV, across HV and EHV cabling for subsea and onshore energy projects.
You will guide the tendering stage through project handover, providing technical support and ensuring regulatory compliance while coordinating with clients and subcontractors within the Power & Energy portfolio.
Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Power Engineering.
- Experience with consultancy, contractor or utility in the energy sector.
- Extensive experience in a cable related role supporting FEED/design.
Responsibilities
- Develop HV/EHV cabling systems specifications, concept/design and design review.
- Provide technical support on HV cable system engineering and design.
- Prepare plant/equipment specs, cable route specs and tender specs.
- Interface with other engineering functions; attend meetings with clients/subcontractors.
- Perform technical calculations (cable size, ratings, TMF/EMF, sheath-induced voltage).
- Perform design reviews and verification of design.
- Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and company procedures.
- Assist with temporary works design schemes.
- Maintain relations with client/designer/team and supply chain.
- Ensure drawings/specs contain adequate information for construction.
