Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Principal Cable System Engineer to lead HV/EHV cabling design across high-profile UK and Continental Europe projects. You will drive specifications, design reviews and technical risk assessments while coordinating with clients and the project team.

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Power Engineering.
• Experience with consultancy, contractor or utility in the energy sector.
• Extensive experience in a cable related role supporting FEED design and/or detailed design.
• Able to manage and lead HV/EHV cable designs at all project stages.
• Experienced user of CYMCAP to support cable system design.
• Experience of working at EHV transmission voltages.
• Experience in the design of HV and EHV cable systems, for both HVAC and HVDC systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop HV/EHV cabling systems specifications, concept/detailed design, design review, estimation and site supervision.
• Provide technical support on HV cable system engineering and design.
• Prepare plant/equipment specifications, route specs, tender specs, technical and progress reports.
• Coordinate with other engineering functions and engage with clients/subcontractors.
• Perform cable size, rating, TMF and EMF calculations and related analyses.
• Conduct design reviews and verify designs for compliance with CDM regulations.
