Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Principal Cable System Engineer to lead HV/EHV cable design for projects up to 400kV within the UK. You will drive design delivery from tender to handover, perform technical calculations, and coordinate with clients and subcontractors to ensure compliant, high‑quality outputs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Power Engineering or equivalent.
• Extensive energy sector experience in consultancy, contractor or utility.
• Experience in HV/EHV cable design for HVAC and HVDC.
• Familiarity with National Grid and DNO standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead design delivery for Cable System Projects up to 400kV.
• Provide technical support across HV cable system engineering and design.
• Prepare technical specifications, route specs, tender specs and reports.
• Ensure interface with other disciplines and stakeholders.
• Perform cable size, rating, TMF/EMF calculations and design reviews.
