Job summary
Jacobs is seeking a Principal Cable System Engineer to support a range of high-profile projects across our Power & Energy portfolio in the UK. You will lead HV/EHV cable system design, provide technical support, and ensure designs meet regulatory and safety standards.
The role requires extensive experience in cable systems, FEED to detailed design, and proficiency with HV voltages, HVDC systems, and CYMCAP.
Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Power Engineering.
- Experience with consultancy, contractor or utility in energy sector.
- Extensive experience in a cable related role supporting FEED or detailed design.
- Able to manage and lead HV/EHV cable designs at all project stages.
- Experience of working at EHV transmission voltages.
- Experience in HV/EHV cable system design for HVAC and HVDC.
Responsibilities
- Develop HV/EHV cabling systems specifications and design reviews.
- Provide technical support on HV cable system engineering.
- Prepare technical specifications, route specs and reports.
- Interface with other engineering functions and client teams.
- Perform cable size, rating, TMF and EMF calculations.
- Ensure CDM compliance and health and safety practices.
- Maintain relations with client and supply chain.
- Prepare risk assessments and method statements.
