Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Principal Cable System Engineer to lead the design delivery for HV/EHV cable systems up to 400kV from tender to handover. You will develop specifications, perform technical calculations, and advise on interface with other engineering functions for major power projects in the UK.

Experience with CYMCAP, EHV voltages, and familiarity with National Grid standards is essential. Jacobs offers hybrid working and flexible arrangements across major UK locations.

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Power Engineering
• Previous experience with consultancy, contractor or utility in the energy sector
• Extensive experience in a cable related role supporting FEED design and/or detailed design
• Able to manage and lead HV/EHV cable designs at all projects stages
• Experienced user of CYMCAP to support cable system design
• Experience of working at EHV transmission voltages
• Experience in the design of HV and EHV cable systems, for both HVAC and HVDC systems
• Familiarity with National Grid and DNO standards and processes

Responsibilities

• Lead HV/EHV cable design across projects from FEED to handover.
• Develop HV/EHV cabling specifications, concept/detailed design and design review.
• Provide technical support to the team on HV cable system design.
• Prepare plant and equipment technical specifications and tender specs.
• Interface with clients, designers and subcontractors; attend meetings.
• Perform cable size, rating, TMF/EMF calculations and related checks.
• Ensure design compliance with CDM regulations and company procedures.
