Overview

Whipps Cross University Hospital is recruiting a Healthcare Support Worker (HCA) Band 3 to work in Syringa Ward. This post is open to experienced Healthcare Support Workers or those new to care. Individuals new to care will receive support to complete the Band 3 competencies and progress into a Band 3 role within six months upon successful completion of all required competencies.

The post holder will work within Syringa Ward, Old People Service. It is a 26 bedded Care of the Elderly Ward. We cater to patients who are acutely unwell and with high dependency needs, with potential co-morbidities such as dementia, delirium and challenging behaviours. The role involves undertaking a range of delegated clinical tasks and providing high-quality, person-centred care in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities
  • Patient observations (e.g., monitoring vital signs)
  • Assisting with personal care and mobility
  • Supporting patients’ nutritional and hydration needs
  • Undertaking a limited range of delegated duties (e.g., taking blood pressure, recording ECG, MRSA screening)
  • Simple wound dressings
  • Collaborating with the team to ensure patient comfort, wellbeing and safety

  • Flexibility to work in a challenging clinical environment; shift work may include nights and weekends
