Position Overview

Ithaca Energy is accepting applications for the position of Senior Financial Reporting Accountant, located in our Aberdeen Office.

Reporting to the Group Financial Reporting Manager, this role plays a key part in delivering high-quality external reporting, ensuring compliance with IFRS, supporting the group's monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, and maintaining a strong financial control environment appropriate for a publicly listed company.

The role requires strong technical accounting expertise, excellent analytical capability, and experience of working in a complex fast paced environment.

Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting
  • Manage the preparation of the Group's quarter‑ly, half‑year and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS
  • Provide IFRS technical expertise, including preparation of high‑quality disclosures, accounting papers and supporting documentation for senior management, audit committee and external auditors
  • Monitor changes in accounting standards and assess their impact on the group.
  • Act as the focal point for all hedge accounting issues & queries, liaison with 3rd party valuation advisers & Treasury colleagues.
Monthly Close
  • Responsible for monthly and quarterly accounting and reporting of key sections of the income statement & balance sheet including, but not limited to, Revenue, Receivables, Inventory, PPE, Impairment and Financial Instruments.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure compliance with accounting policies.
  • Provision of insightful and succinct variance analysis of actual results against those of prior periods and business plan.
Audit and Controls
  • Act as a key focal point for external auditors. Work closely with auditors to ensure well planned, efficient audits and co‑ordinate audit deliverables
  • Internal control compliance for own areas to ensure financial integrity, ensuring documentation managed and kept up to date and all internal audit requests responded to in a timely manner.

Management & development of direct reports.

General support to ensure team goals & objectives are met to the required high standard of delivery.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Strong experience in a finance role, including strong technical accounting experience ideally in upstream oil and gas industry
  • Experience of audit coordination & management
  • Qualified Chartered Accountant, ideally with an audit background.
