Overview

Senior Finance Officer (Maternity Cover) – Admin Role D. Maternity cover for a pivotal role in the Finance team at Blatchington Mill School, reporting to the School Business Manager and working with an Assistant to support financial management across operational and strategic matters.

Work: 41 weeks (paid 47.36 weeks including Annual Leave Allowance). Salary: LGA/NJC Scale SO1/2 SCP 23 - 28 Actual £31,361 – £35,658.

Required: November 2025 or as soon as possible to allow for a handover.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Finance team in collaboration with the Assistant to support the School Business Manager in all operational and strategic financial matters.
  • Manage a high volume of operational processes in the finance team and report regularly to Leadership and the Governors of the LA maintained large secondary school.
  • Ensure adherence to national and local statutory regulations and uphold a high level of probity in line with School Financial Value Standards.
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail, flexibility and the ability to manage own work and the work of others.
Qualifications and experience
  • Experience in similar finance roles, preferably in an educational setting or similar context.
  • Ability to support induction and training; commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Interest in gaining valuable experience in a local authority maintained secondary school.
