Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Birmingham seeks an Associate Director / Estimating Manager to lead estimating services across feasibility to detailed design. You will oversee outputs, support win work, and drive continuous improvement within a high-performing team.

You will apply advanced estimation methods, manage client expectations, and engage with designers, engineers and project managers across multiple sectors while maintaining robust governance and quality assurance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Estimating, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction sectors or Equivalent Work Experience.
• Chartership with or demonstrably working towards RICS, ICE, AACE, ACostE or similar.
• Strong understanding of contingency and risk allowances.
• Wider understanding of commercial and contractual requirements and the crossover to estimating or forecasting costs.
• Deep knowledge of indirect costs, cost breakdown structures and techniques to analyse and assess project deliverability.
• Stakeholder engagement with designers, engineers, project managers and clients.
• Ability to adapt across multiple sectors and disciplines and learn new skills.
• Security clearance capability (ideal but not necessary).

Responsibilities

• Lead estimating service delivery from feasibility to detailed design.
• Produce Class 5 to Class 1 estimates across varied projects.
• Support leadership in win work activities (bids, proposals) to grow the portfolio.
• Improve the quality of client deliverables and develop a high performing team.
• Lead peer reviews and guide team on projects."
• Author basis-of-estimate reports for Director reviews and client submissions.
• Utilise client benchmarking data, in-house data and market data to assess estimates.
• Lead internal QA processes for client deliverables following governance procedures.
