Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for the Transmission & Distribution team in Manchester. The role focuses on MV/LV design, protection, control, and interface work across private, industrial, and renewables projects within a hybrid work model.

You will join a multidisciplinary team delivering practical electrical design solutions, collaborating with clients and suppliers, and contributing to project lifecycle design reviews and electrical system studies.

Qualifications

• Degree or relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Knowledge of British and DNO design standards.
• Experience as Trainee/Assistant Electrical Engineer or graduate training in Energy/Power sector.
• Understanding of Power Systems.
• Able to work with internal and external parties in a collaborative culture.
• Experience writing clear and concise documentation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Medium Voltage and Low Voltage design to DNO Standards.
• Produce interface designs for SCADA systems and metering.
• Develop protection and control schemes and related diagrams.
• Conduct cable sizing calculations and route drawings.
• Contribute to electrical system studies and network modelling.
• Participate in design reviews and governance processes.
• Collaborate with external suppliers and clients.
