Job summary

AECOM is seeking experienced Senior Cable System Design Engineers to join our Transmission & Distribution team in the UK. You will deliver full lifecycle cable engineering from feasibility through to commissioning, collaborating with clients and internal teams worldwide.

Work will span multiple voltage levels, with opportunities to influence designs, standards, and project delivery. The role offers hybrid work and exposure to international projects across energy infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Cable system design experience for HV/EHV projects; FEED experience required.
• Understanding of onshore cable routing, burial risk, and electromagnetic/thermal analysis.
• Knowledge of IEC, CIGRÉ, and NG-TPs standards; experience with ECI, testing, and third-party inspections.

Responsibilities

• Deliver full lifecycle cable engineering from feasibility to commissioning.
• Review HV cable system designs, route development, burial risk, and thermal/EM calculations.
• Perform cable rating studies including ampacity, short-circuit forces, thermal stability.
• Coordinate with civil, substation and OHL teams for integrated solutions.
• Support FAT/SAT, installation and commissioning activities.
