Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join ourTransmission and Distribution team in a hybrid working arrangement in the UK or Ireland. You will contribute to HV substation design for high-profile projects, from concept through energisation, collaborating with utilities, developers, and international clients.

Key tasks include producing plant layouts, equipment specifications, and providing design input for major infrastructure projects, renewables, and OHL schemes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• HV project experience
• Experience with utilities or developers
• Designer or project engineer
• Develop specifications for substation control systems, transformers, GIS, and AIS switchgear
• Work across multiple projects
• Fluent English
• Experience in technical report writing
• Full driving license and access to a vehicle
• Ideally Chartered status or working toward it
• Ideally consultancy experience
• Ideally experience reviewing detailed designs & witnessing construction site activities

Responsibilities

• Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations
• Produce equipment specifications for HV Plant and related equipment
• Provide engineering design input to major infrastructure projects
• Undertake an Owners’ Engineer role on HV substations/cable and OHL projects
• Provide HV design input to renewable energy projects (battery storage, solar, hydro and wind)
• Provide professional services to clients in Ireland/UK and overseas
