Job summary

AECOM in Manchester is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join the Transmission & Distribution team. You will deliver MV and LV electrical designs, specify protection and control schemes, and ensure compliance with DNO standards across diverse energy projects.

Qualifications

• Degree or relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Knowledge of British and DNO specific design standards.
• Previous trainee/assistant role or graduate programme in energy/power design.
• Understanding of Power Systems characteristics.
• Ability to work with internal and external parties in a collaborative culture.
• Experience in writing clear and concise documentation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out MV and LV design to DNO standards.
• Design intake and distribution substations and feeder networks.
• Produce protection and control schemes and wiring diagrams.
• Model earthing grids and perform touch/step/transfer calculations.
• Interface designs for SCADA and auxiliary power supplies.
• Prepare technical specifications and support equipment procurement.
• Collaborate with external suppliers and clients.
