Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our Transmission and Distribution team, based in the UK or Ireland. You will work on groundbreaking HV substation design projects from concept to energisation, contributing to major initiatives and grid-scale infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include plant layouts, HV equipment specs, and serving as Owners’ Engineer on HV and renewable energy projects. AECOM offers hybrid working, strong career development, and global opportunities.

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience on HV projects.
Experience with major utilities or developers.
Designer or Project Engineer experience.
Experience developing specifications for substation control systems, transformers, GIS and AIS switchgear.
Ability to work across multiple projects.
Fluency in English.
Experience in technical report writing.
Full driving license and access to a vehicle for site visits.
Ideally Chartered or working towards status.
Ideally consultancy experience.
Ideally experience reviewing detailed designs and witnessing construction activities.

Responsibilities

Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations.
Produce equipment specifications for HV plant and related equipment.
Provide engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
Undertake Owners’ Engineer role on HV substation, cable and OHL projects.
Provide HV design input to renewable energy projects (battery storage, solar, hydro, wind).
Provide professional services to clients in Ireland/UK and overseas.
