Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join the Transmission & Distribution team in the UK. The role involves delivering practical electrical design solutions across private, industrial, and renewable sectors, from concept through commissioning.

You will work on MV/LV design to DNO standards, protection and control, and interface with SCADA and auxiliary supplies. Hybrid working model offered with a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Degree or relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Knowledge of British and DNO design standards.
• Experience as a Trainee or Assistant Electrical Engineer or graduate training in Energy/Power.
• Understanding of functional characteristics of Power Systems.
• Ability to work with internal and external parties in a collaborative culture.
• Experience in writing clear and concise documentation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out MV and LV design work to DNO standards.
• Provide Open and Closed Ring and Radial Feeder supply network solutions.
• Carry out intake and distribution substation layout design (MV/LV).
• Conduct primary plant and equipment design (MV/LV).
• Produce secondary protection and control solution drawings and diagrams.
• Conduct cable sizing, routing, and termination drawings (MV/LV).
• Undertake electrical system earthing design and modelling; compute touch/step transfer potential.
• Produce interface designs for SCADA, auxiliary supply and COP metering.
• Provide MV/LV standby and back-up power changeover solutions.
• Write technical specifications and assist with procurement.
• Liaise with external suppliers and clients.
• Input into electrical system studies for LV/MV network modelling.
