Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for Distribution in the Manchester area. You will join a multidisciplinary Transmission & Distribution team, delivering electrical design across private, industrial, transmission/distribution, and renewables projects.

The role focuses on MV/LV design, protection, and coordination with clients and suppliers, with a hybrid work model and opportunities to grow within a global engineering leader.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
Knowledge of British and DNO design standards.
Experience as Trainee/Assistant Electrical Engineer or Graduate Training in Energy/Power.
Strong understanding of Power Systems and ability to work with internal/external teams.

Responsibilities

Carry out Medium Voltage and Low Voltage design to DNO standards.
Design intake/distribution substations and provide MV/LV layouts.
Develop protection and control schemes and wiring diagrams.
Perform cable sizing, routing, and termination drawings for MV/LV systems.
Model earthing grids and perform touch/step/transfer calculations.
Interface designs for SCADA systems and auxiliary supply.Provide changeover solutions for standby power and assist procurement with equipment orders.
Contribute to electrical system studies and arc-flash considerations.
Participate in design reviews within the team and with the lead verifier.
