Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join the Transmission & Distribution team in Manchester. You’ll design MV/LV systems to DNO standards and collaborate with internal and external partners on energy projects.

Based in a hybrid work environment, you’ll contribute across private, industrial, transmission/distribution and renewables sectors, delivering practical electrical design solutions through the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Degree or relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Knowledge of British and DNO design standards.
• Experience in design office and/or construction environment within the Energy/Power sector.
• Ability to work with internal and external parties in a collaborative culture.
• Experience in writing clear and concise documentation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Medium Voltage and Low Voltage design work to DNO standards.
• Provide Open and Closed Ring and Radial Feeder supply network solutions.
• Carry out Intake and Distribution Substation Layout design (Medium Voltage and Low Voltage).
• Conduct primary plant and equipment design works (Medium and Low Voltage).
• Produce secondary protection and control solution digesting equipment scheme circuit and wiring diagrams.
• Conduct cable sizing calculations, routing, section, and termination drawings (Medium and Low Voltage).
• Undertake electrical system, earthing grid design and modelling, as well as calculations for touch, step and transfer potential.
• Produce interface designs for SCADA System, Auxiliary supply and COP metering.
• Provide MV and LV Local Standby and Back-up power supply automatic and manual changeover solutions.
• Write technical specifications and support with equipment orders/procurement.
