Senior Electrical Contracts Manager

Salary: £80,000 - £90,000 + Benefits

Location: Exeter (initially) → Plymouth (major healthcare project site)

Project Value: £48M

Programme Completion: December 2028

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Contracts Manager to take full ownership of the electrical delivery on a flagship £48M MEP healthcare project in Plymouth. This high-profile leadership role offers the chance to shape a state-of-the-art healthcare facility, making a lasting impact on the local community. You will initially be based in Exeter, before transitioning to the Plymouth site for the duration of the project, which is scheduled for completion in December 2028.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all electrical elements of the project, ensuring delivery on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, collaborating closely with MEP teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Manage labour, materials, and equipment to meet key milestones.
  • Ensure installations meet relevant regulations, including BS 7671, supported by regular inspections and audits.
  • Drive a strong safety-first culture and proactively mitigate risks.
  • Monitor project budgets and provide accurate progress reporting.
  • Identify and address potential risks with effective contingency planning.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and providing updates.
  • Mentor and lead engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to deliver excellence.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Successfully delivered large-scale MEP projects, ideally within the healthcare sector.
  • Strong expertise in electrical systems, BS 7671 regulations, and public-sector projects (NEC3/NEC4 desirable).
  • Exceptional ability to lead teams in complex, high-pressure environments.
  • Strong decision-making and conflict-resolution abilities.
Essential Certifications
  • 236 Part 1 & 2 Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
  • City & Guilds 2391 - Inspection & Testing
  • JIB Gold Card - Approved Electrician status
