Job summary

Southern Water is seeking a Principal EICA Engineer in Falmer, Sussex to lead Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation across capital delivery programmes. This senior role provides technical direction, governance, and innovative approaches to ensure safety, quality and performance.

You will drive multidisciplinary design teams, shape technical standards, and develop future engineering capability while delivering sustainable solutions for customers and communities.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (MEng/BEng/BSc/HNC).
• Chartered Engineer status with IET.
• Experience leading design and delivery of water/wastewater projects in the UK.
• Strong knowledge of EICA engineering principles, design processes and standards.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and influence at all levels.
• Commercial awareness with budgeting and whole-life cost experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and governance across EICA activities.
• Lead development, review and approval of designs, calculations and specs.
• Manage complex technical challenges ensuring safety and quality compliance.
• Oversee programme performance, budgets and life-cycle solutions.
• Build relationships with stakeholders, consultants and partners.
• Drive standardisation and digital engineering adoption.
• Mentor junior engineers and support capability development.
