Job summary

Southern Water is seeking a Senior EICA Engineer to provide technical leadership across a portfolio of water and wastewater projects. You will guide design development, deliver high-quality documentation, and oversee project lifecycles with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

As a senior member, you will mentor junior engineers, manage design programmes and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve successful outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC qualified in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline (MEng, BEng, BSc or HNC).
• Professional membership of the IET, or significant progress towards professional registration.
• Experience leading and delivering engineering design projects within the water and/or wastewater industry.
• Strong technical knowledge of EICA engineering principles, design processes and industry standards.
• Ability to provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of health, safety and CDM requirements, with a commitment to safe design practices.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites and offices as required.

Responsibilities

• Providing technical leadership and engineering expertise across water and wastewater projects.
• Leading the production, review and approval of engineering designs, calculations, reports and technical documentation.
• Supporting project delivery by managing design programmes, resources and technical outputs.
• Ensuring designs meet quality, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements, including CDM obligations.
• Managing stakeholders and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful project outcomes.
• Resolving complex engineering challenges and driving continuous improvement across projects.
• Supporting project financial performance by promoting cost-effective, whole-life engineering solutions.
• Coaching, mentoring and developing Assistant and Graduate Engineers while fostering innovation and best practice.
