Job summary

Southern Water is seeking a Principal EICA Engineer to lead the EICA discipline across water and wastewater capital projects in the Falmer area. This senior role operates within the Engineering team, delivering safe, high-quality outcomes and setting technical direction.

You will drive multidisciplinary design, governance, and digital engineering initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and regulators to realise sustainable solutions for customers.

Qualifications

Degree or HNC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering is required.
Chartered Engineer status with IET is essential.
Significant UK water industry project delivery experience.
Strong governance across EICA engineering activities.
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage budgets.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and governance across EICA activities in water projects.
Lead design reviews, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
Manage complex technical challenges with safety, quality, regulatory standards.
Support delivery by overseeing programme performance and budgets.
Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners.
Drive innovation, standardisation, and digital engineering adoption.
Mentor junior engineers and support recruitment and capability development.
Support development/maintenance of engineering standards and industry representation.
