Job summary

Stantec is seeking an experienced Principal EIA Consultant to lead Environmental Impact Assessments across a national portfolio, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and delivering robust reports for UK projects.

Based in the UK, you will drive project delivery, support business development and mentor colleagues, while maintaining strong client and regulator relationships in a collaborative, hybrid working environment.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in EIA, environmental consultancy, environmental planning or related discipline.
• Strong experience delivering and managing EIA projects and related documentation.
• Good understanding of UK environmental assessment legislation and policy.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary inputs from technical specialists.
• Ability to identify environmental risks and provide mitigation strategies; commercial awareness.
• Proven project management skills across programmes, budgets and resources.
• Experience building client relationships with regulators and stakeholders.
• Strong report-writing, analytical and communication skills; ability to explain complex issues.
• Experience supporting bids, tenders and business development; client development mindset.
• Mentoring colleagues and contributing to team culture; collaborative working across geography.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver EIAs, Environmental Statements and related documentation across multiple sectors.
• Manage EIA projects from scoping through assessment, reporting, consultation and submission.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs to ensure robust, proportionate assessments.
• Provide technical advice on constraints, impacts, mitigation and consenting requirements.
• Prepare, review and quality-assure EIA reports and supporting documents.
• Apply UK environmental legislation and planning policy to inform decisions.
• Advise clients on strategy, planning considerations and risk management.
• Build relationships with clients, authorities, consultees and regulators.
• Lead stakeholder engagement, workshops and project meetings.
• Manage delivery, including programmes, budgets, resources and timescales.
• Identify delivery improvements and share best practice across the team.
• Support business development, client engagement and proposals/tenders.
• Develop and grow client relationships to secure repeat work; contribute to growth of services.
• Mentor junior colleagues and share technical knowledge to support career progression.
• Collaborate across planning, environmental and engineering teams for integrated solutions.
