Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Principal EIA Consultant to lead environmental assessment programs across the UK. You will drive EIA delivery, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and engage clients to deliver robust Environmental Statements and consenting strategies.

You will apply UK legislation, provide strategic guidance, and contribute to business development while mentoring junior staff and expanding the environmental team capabilities.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in EIA, environmental consultancy, environmental planning or a closely related discipline.
• Strong experience delivering and managing EIA projects, including preparation, coordination or review of Environmental Statements and supporting technical documentation.
• Good understanding of UK environmental assessment legislation, planning policy, consenting processes and relevant technical guidance.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary environmental assessments and managing inputs from a range of technical specialists.
• Identify environmental risks and opportunities, develop mitigation strategies and provide practical, commercially aware advice.
• Proven project management skills, including programmes, budgets and resources.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to the delivery of Environmental Impact Assessments and Environmental Statements across sectors.
• Manage EIA projects and workstreams from early development to submission.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, ensuring robust assessments.
• Provide technical advice on environmental constraints, impacts, mitigation and consenting requirements.
• Prepare, review and quality‑assure EIA reports and supporting documentation.
• Apply knowledge of UK environmental legislation to inform project decisions.
• Advise clients on strategy, planning considerations and risk management.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, authorities and regulators.
• Lead stakeholder engagement, consultations and project meetings.
• Manage delivery against programmes, budgets and resources.
• Identify opportunities to improve delivery and share best practice.
