Job summary

Stantec, a leading UK-wide consultancy, is seeking a Principal EIA Consultant to lead Environmental Impact Assessments across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, energy, water and development projects.

You will manage EIA delivery from scoping to submission, coordinate multi-disciplinary inputs, advise clients on planning strategy and sustainability, and mentor junior colleagues as our EIA capability grows.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in EIA, environmental consultancy or related discipline.
• Experience delivering and managing EIA projects, including Environmental Statements.
• Strong understanding of UK environmental assessment legislation and planning policy.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary environmental assessments and inputs.
• Ability to identify environmental risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Proven project management skills including programmes, budgets and resources.
• Experience building relationships with clients, regulators and stakeholders.
• Strong report-writing and communication skills.
• Experience supporting bids, tenders and business development.
• Mentoring and contributing to a positive team culture.
• Collaborative approach across dispersed teams.
• Genuine interest in sustainable development and environmental outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to delivery of EIAs and Environmental Statements across sectors.
• Manage EIA projects and workstreams from development to submission.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs to ensure robust assessments.
• Provide technical advice on constraints, mitigation and consenting requirements.
• Prepare, review and quality-assure EIA reports and related documents.
• Apply UK legislation and guidance to inform project decisions.
• Advise clients on strategy, planning considerations and risk management.
• Build and maintain client relationships with authorities and stakeholders.
• Lead stakeholder engagement, workshops and project meetings.
• Manage delivery including programmes, budgets and resources.
• Identify opportunities to improve delivery and share best practices.
• Support business development through client engagement and bids.
• Develop and maintain client relationships to secure repeat business.
• Provide mentoring and support to junior colleagues for development.
