Job description
The Team

The Data Research and Delivery team is part of G Research’s quantitative research function. We are responsible for the company’s research data assets, overseeing the lifecycle of data products from discovery through to the supervision of the commercial aspects of production. We serve as the bridge between the firm’s quantitative research function and external suppliers of data.

Main Functions
  • Responsibility for the composition of the data estate ensuring that it is well‑aligned with the research divisions’ short‑ and long‑term requirements.
  • Maintaining a knowledge base of the global financial and other related data industries, ensuring that data sources are discoverable, well‑categorised, well‑documented and easily available.
  • Engaging proactively with the data industry to better understand and influence product roadmaps and key industry trends.
  • Engaging cross‑group on the operational aspects of the data lifecycle to ensure legal and commercial requirements are efficient, compliant and scalable.
The Role

We are looking for a specialist in the financial data space to take a leading role in developing the team’s capabilities. Working with senior leadership in the research division you will be responsible for ensuring our data environment supports our world‑class research function.

Building on your established network you will strengthen strategic ties across the industry and help drive innovation in response to the evolving data landscape. You will play an active role in ensuring data research projects progress smoothly and that communication with vendors and partners is well‑coordinated.

As a senior member of the team you will lead by example, taking responsibility for mentoring and developing colleagues and representing the team’s work in division‑wide functions.

Who Are We Looking For

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Extensive experience in data acquisition, research and analysis within the financial industry, either in a Tier 1 bank or a top buy‑side institution.
  • A proven track record of sourcing and acquiring financial and finance‑adjacent data sets and forging long‑term relationships with data vendors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to proactively and strategically build strong internal and external stakeholder networks.
  • A creative problem‑solver and strong negotiator.
  • The capacity to work autonomously and collaborate in a multi‑functional team, along with experience leading projects and a willingness to nurture the skills of others.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in statistical software such as Python and data‑visualization tools such as Tableau (benefit).
  • Familiarity with database management, data manipulation, data warehousing and data delivery solutions.
  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, Statistics or a related field.
  • A finance‑related postgraduate or professional qualification such as the CFA (benefit).
