Atkins Infrastructure division has a vacancy in our Newcastle office for a Senior to Associate Chartered Building Surveyor to work in a multi‑disciplinary environment delivering a full suite of Building Surveying duties. We offer extremely varied and interesting work with a number of high profile public and private sector clients. This is an exciting role for the right individual as we are expanding and will be part of a vibrant team. We are looking for qualified surveyors with 5+ post‑qualification years, a track record in winning work, managing client relationships, delivering commissions and assisting in the running of a building surveying business. Apart from technical excellence, we seek someone who can think laterally, possesses exemplary communication skills, has strong commercial experience and will provide a first‑class service to our clients. We are growing in sectors such as local and central government, education, blue light, rail, aviation, infrastructure, commercial, energy and more. The right person will join a world‑renowned practice that has successfully existed since 1938 and work in a friendly, collaborative environment.

Your role
  • Be a focal point and leadership figure.
  • Contribute to the strategic plan, growth and development for the business in the region.
  • Assist with the development of new and repeat business.
  • Support the regional lead in the day‑to‑day running of the business.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and technical expertise to team members.
  • Mentor and train junior building surveyors and actively participate in the APC programme.
  • Work across a number of projects in different sectors, managing and providing a range of building surveying duties.
  • Provide internal and external project management duties.
  • Manage client relationships, service delivery and development of bids and winning propositions.
  • Act as the primary interface with key clients and ensure the quality and timeliness of service delivery to those clients.
About you
  • BSc (Hon's) Building Surveying RICS Accredited Degree.
  • Full member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
  • Demonstrated good all‑round surveying experience, client‑facing and work‑winning skills.
  • Strong team‑working skills and ability to communicate well at all levels.
  • Prepared to travel as required.
  • Lead senior colleagues to build a profitable service and positive, high‑performing team environment.
  • Strong IT skills; Word and Excel at a minimum. Candidates should be able to produce, edit and format documents.
  • Ideally AutoCAD skills and full understanding of Health and Safety requirements.
  • Keep abreast of industry issues and developments in best practice.
  • Proven track record in the successful delivery of building surveying services.
